#FeatureFriday – Missgoob….or Mrs?

Category: Feature Friday, Latest Update, Singapore, Social Media Scene |

Happy Friday! With the release of Logan and Beauty and the Beast, we’ve been busy hitting the cinemas getting caught up in the different universes :) As for our Featured Alpha of the Month, Jie Hui – more commonly known as MissGoob, she’s been busy living her own love story that she often shares on Dayre. Just recently, she got engaged to her beloved Ah Pei and she shares with us more about her relationship, career and of course, some memorable moments that she shared with her dog, Gooby!

MISSSSS

  1. Hey Jie Hui, hope all’s been good for you! For the new viewers that want to know more about you, tell us how you would describe yourself as a person.

Hello everyone! Yes I’ve been well thank you! I honestly think I am very…ordinary. I go to work, have a dog, spend time with my loved ones, eat a lot… HAHA. I am a very easy going person; I am easily contented with things in life. My fiancé Ahpei always marvels at how simple things like eating Yong Tau Foo or watching a sunset can make me so happy lolol. I love love love nature! Especially trees. When I feel stressed or when I’m dealing with messy thoughts, I take a walk to get my much-needed nature therapy. It helps to clear my mind. The longest I’ve walked was 5 hours plus, from Bishan to my then-home in Woodlands!

I am also very very emotional. Tears come easily for me when I watch sad films or even when I say bye to Ahpei at the end of an amazing date night sigh. Or when he is really nice to me and I feel touched lololol. I cry to relieve stress, I get attached to things like objects, plants, animals; I even name my laptop & the stray cats in my neighbourhood hahaha.

  1. Tell us a motto that you live by.

No ragrets.

I really really believe that life has no time for regrets, and we should always pursue our dreams. They can be big dreams like starting your own business (which was what I did), or little dreams like eating a pizza all by yourself. Haven’t achieved that though! But someday I will.

  1. We love keeping up with your Dayre, and we saw that you got engaged on Valentine’s Day! Firstly, congratulations on your engagement! How did you know that your fiancé, Ah Pei is the right one for you? 16464119_1943087612578277_876474869447917568_n

Thank you! :) To be honest I wasn’t very sure at first.

When we first started dating, I was very unsure about us, because of self-esteem issues. I felt very inferior in terms of physical appearance compared to Ahpei (since he’s a Navy regular and I’m this bigger-than-normal girl lolol) but he never once minded my physical flaws or extra folds of fats, and loved me all the same.

It took some time for me to open my heart and fully let him in (HENG HE NV GIVE UP LOL), but I’m so glad I did. This journey has been nothing but amazing; Ahpei taught me how to love and receive love, and most importantly, to love myself.

He always tells me that I’m beautiful (although probably only in his eyes hahaha) and that I’m good, I’m enough. I always roll my eyes at him or laugh his words off as a joke, but deep inside I’m really very thankful for his constant assurance and how he accepts me for who I am :’)

  1. How would you describe your relationship with Ah Pei? 17077670_393898154305395_2649268821835120640_n

My relationship with Ahpei… is a miracle to me. From how we met, got together, got engaged… I really can’t thank guanyinma enough for how things turned out. I’ve never dated anyone before Ahpei but he is really worth the 27-year wait. He is the sweetest, filial, traditional, caring, understanding, supportive and gets along well with my family & Gooby. I can’t ask for more!

Other than that, our relationship is probably just like any other couple’s?? I don’t know haha. I don’t think we are any more special than others. A lot of people leave comments on Dayre to say we are ‘relationship goals’ or ‘diabetes-inducing’ lolol and we are always super amused by that haha. I honestly think every love story is beautiful in their own way, so is ours

  1. Describe your ideal wedding!

My ideal wedding is one where I’m marrying Ahpei. I’ll be wearing sneakers, a dress I can breathe in, no crazy make-up and hair done, and I will look like myself HAHAHA. Our loved ones, my bestfriends & Gooby will be around. The wedding will be held at Saizeriya and all of us will feast on good pastas & pizzas. This is my ideal wedding but I asked Ahpei already and he said cannot.

  1. We also really love your baking creations! What sparked the interest in you to start baking & eventually turn it into your career?  17334228_1823567234562102_2618806079093473280_n

I kind of stumbled into baking after I finished university! I didn’t want to enter the corporate world immediately after my studies, much to my dad’s dismay. I wanted to learn a skill, any skill. I didn’t know how to bake, so I went for an interview at a bakery (without my dad knowing lolol) and amazingly I got the job.

After a month of monotonous baking, I craved for something more creative. So I quit my job & started reading up on cake decorating and started baking from home. I made my family eat so much cake HAHA. It wasn’t an easy journey; my dad wasn’t supportive of my baking and wanted me to work in an office. But I knew I didn’t belong in one.

We made a pact to let me try this baking thing for one year. If it fails, I’ll write my resume and go to work lol. Fortunately for me, things worked out nicely and I started Goobycakes within a year of baking at home. Never looked back since!

  1. What challenges do you face when running your own business & how did you overcome them?

The main challenge would be work-life balance. I used to work so hard, I didn’t have enough rest. I worked 7 days a week; sometimes I’d leave the shop at 11pm and start again the next day at 7am. It was crazy. I realised I lost a lot of time with my family, friends, and I didn’t have a life. I even started to hate my work, and that was when I realised I needed to let go a bit.

It was hard to reject customers, since every order is potential income. But I knew I had to make time for the things and people who matter, and for myself too; that cannot be calculated with money!

  1. Can you share with us the most memorable moment(s) that you had with Gooby, your miniature schnauzer?  16585497_612014502328197_1923968932826316800_n

Our first meeting will always be a fond memory. We adopted him from a friend of my mum’s, who owns a pet shop. Gooby was already 5 months old and rather large in size, and no one wanted to buy him cos he suffered from really horrible dandruff issues, and he was already adult-looking and not cute anymore. Even I didn’t think he was cute too HAHA.

But we adopted him anyway, and on the journey home, Gooby puked on me, twice, cos the poor boy suffered from car sickness!! I was so grossed out. Gooby was very wary of me initially, and he was so hard to train as a puppy! But puppies need lots of love and patience before they can trust us. It took months but Gooby slowly let me into his world & started to warm up to me! The first time he allowed me to pick him up and hug him was one of the happiest day of my life!

Another memory is not so fond, but still very very memorable. That was when Gooby suffered from a slipped disc and got paralysed in both his hind legs last year. It was a very hard time for us, because Gooby’s condition had complications and he suffered so much before he eventually went for the surgery. So glad he pulled through though!!

He was such a fighter throughout the recovery process :’) He can’t walk normally like he used to; he limps a bit but he never stops trying to run around the house, especially to me when I come through the door every day  He still give me lots of kisses & we always cuddle together after a long day. Just this enough is worth every cent of the 12k I spent on the vets HAHAHA.

  1. How have you changed as a person when we first interviewed you for Feature Friday in early 2014 until now?15538261_259557687793100_3535112067222601728_n

I don’t think I’ve changed much, except I’ve met the love of my life and am now happily engaged!

  1. Last but not least, where do you see yourself 5 years down the road?

I hope to be living in my own house, that’s the number one most important goal I want to achieve. I also hope that Goobycakes will be more or less doing well so I can have more time with my laogong, aging parents, Gooby and maybe my baby!

We know you just came back from Phuket and have been quite busy recently, so thank you for taking time out to have a chat with us! We loved catching up with you :)

Do remember to check out Jie Hui’s social media platforms & Dayre!

That’s all that we have for today. Have a great weekend, Churpers! :)

#FeatureFriday – Meet Positive Ray of Sunshine, Cheyenne Chesney!

How was your Valentine’s Day celebration, Churpers? Whether you celebrated it with your loved ones or by yourself, you can always find out how Valentine you are just for the fun of it!

As for our Featured Alpha of the Month, Cheyenne Chesney, she spent Valentine’s Day in school! Currently a student taking her IGSCE and a part-time model, Cheyenne works hard to juggle all her responsibilities while having fun at the same time. We had a chat with her to find out how she started her modeling career, and how her perception on social media has evolved. Let’s get right into it!

1) Hi Cheyenne, hope 2017 has been good to you so far! We saw from your social media that you headed down to Gold Coast last December, so what did you love most about the land down under?

Well first off, I absolutely loved the weather there! Even though there was only a few degrees difference, it felt a lot colder than Singapore. The sky was also so blue, it was incredible.

Furthermore, the theme parks there were huge and had such amazing rides, it was so fun! And I also got to visit my grandma which I only get to do about once every year :)

2) The photos on your Instagram feed follow such a consistent theme! Any tips on how to edit your photos & keep up with a specific theme?

Well, when I take my photos I try to follow the same colour palate. Since my theme is white I try to take pictures with a white-ish background. If I had a darker feed I would take photos with a darker background. I also edit all my photos using the same filter and settings so that the photos all match.

3) We know that you’ve been investing more time to build up your modeling career, but what sparked the interest in you to pursue modeling?

I had never thought about modeling before but when an online store approached me and asked if I wanted to model for their store I decided to try it out, because why not? It ended up being so much fun! After I posted about the online store I modeled for, others approached me as well! I was just doing it for fun really, when a modeling agency approached me on social media and told me they were interested in signing me! I was overjoyed that I could make money for myself doing something that I found fun.

4) Share with us more on how you juggle between your academic responsibilities & modeling at the same time!

So far it’s been a little tough, but I make sure I have at least one or two hours to study every day. Be it before I sleep or in the morning when I wake up. During photo shoots sometimes, there are a few models on set so we take turns or they take a lot of time to set up. So I bring my study books to study any time I can squeeze it in.

5) What do you usually do during your free time?

This year, I have to spend my free time studying. Any free time I get I try to study as much as possible. I love to make colourful notes so I try to do it for all my subjects, especially since colour helps you to remember things. This year I’m taking my IGCSE (which is like the international school version of O-level) so I really have to study as hard so possible In order to reach my goal grades.

6) How did your social media journey start off? Has your perception of social media changed ever since?

I started social media in secondary 1. My friends encouraged me to join the different social media platforms when I first joined my secondary school.

Since secondary 1, my perception of social media has changed a lot. For starters, as I used social media more I started receiving hate. The first time I received hate I was so upset by it. I thought it was the end of the world, that someone online didn’t like me. As my following began to grow, the number of haters did as well. They would comment that I’m “overrated” or “boring” or “ugly” but I started not to care. At some point, I realised that their opinions didn’t matter to me. Everyone has haters, no matter what you do, someone isn’t going to like it. So, at the end of the day the only person whose opinion of you matters is yourself. Just keep your head up and ignore those who wish to bring you down.

7) If you have to describe yourself in one word, what would it be & why? :-)

Positive. No matter the situation, I try to look on the bright side. I try to tell myself, looking back in the future, would I rather have a happy, positive childhood or a sad, emo one. I like to think that any rough time I’m going through will be over before I know it and that I’ll be happy again and stronger than before.

8) Lastly, we want to know some of your upcoming plans that we can look forward to!

Well as of now, I have a big project that I worked on that I’m really excited about!! But I can’t release any information about it as of yet so stay tuned 😉

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to have a chat with us, Cheyenne, we are truly excited for what lies ahead of you!

Hope you enjoyed getting to know Cheyenne on a more personal level because we sure did :) Don’t forget to follow her on her social media platforms and Dayre!

Onwards with the weekend, Churpers :)

#FeatureFriday – Breaking into the New Year with Jamie Pang!

Category: Alpha, Feature Friday, Latest Update, Singapore, Social Media Scene, Uncategorized |

Happy 2017! How has the New Year been? A brand new year also means that a fresh new chapter awaits to be written for all of us! We hope 2016 has been an exciting and fulfilling year for you, just like it was for our Featured Alpha of the month, Jamie Pang! More than just a pretty face, Jamie shares with us about her life as a fitness junkie and a globetrotter. Read on to find out more :)

#ffpowerpoint

1.  Hi Jamie, hope you’ve started 2017 on a happy note :) Share with us how 2016 was and what are some of your top moments!

2016 was a great year!  I think the highlight of 2016 for me was probably graduation and stepping into the workforce. It was something I was really excited about, though it did wear off a little during my graduation trips.

2.I’m sure one of your highlights in 2016 is your travels! Which trip was the most memorable for you and why?

It definitely was. This year’s trips had been pretty exciting for me. I traveled to Hong Kong, Philippines, Indonesia, India and Korea.

I think my trip to India after graduation was the most memorable. I know it is not conventionally popular as a holiday destination, but I think India is definitely more than meets the eye. The thing I love most about traveling is observing how people of different cultures behave, and more often than not, I get to see new perspectives and think to myself ‘When I get back home, I want to do that too.’ Or ‘I want to see things that way too’. In India, I had many of these moments and I got to learn a lot about myself while I was there (not to mention an extremely weak stomach!).

3.Now that 2016 is done and dusted, what are your plans for 2017? Have you set any New Year Resolutions this year?

1.Definitely to ensure work-life balance. I just started work this year, so this has been going on pretty well. I can foresee that career may increasingly form a larger portion of my priorities in the near future, so I hope I can remind myself that while career success may give me a huge sense of accomplishment and belonging, quality of life is most important.

2.Resume traveling (however hard it may be). I used to let wanderlust take me everywhere, anytime. I could travel even way before school called on us. I guess it was the privilege of being young and free. I was feeling nostalgic when I looked at my travel pictures recently, and I guess I missed that feeling.  I definitely want to get away this year – at least once!

3.On a more solemn note, while 2016 had been a good one, I’ve lost a couple of people whom I hold very close to my heart, due to various reasons – sickness, unfortunate events. Ever since, I’ve made a mental note to self to appreciate the people around me, show gratitude, and not to hold back from displaying affection to people whom I really love. Entering 2017, I want to do just the same.

4.Any travel destinations you’ve set your mind to?

Bhutan – I’ve always had a nature child in me, so I guess for Bhutan, I’m completely sold to the Himalayas. I read the book ‘Dreams of the peaceful dragon’ quite some time back at a book exchange shelf in a dormitory in Philippines, and it described Bhutan to be an otherworldly place. Even though it was a writing dated years ago, I’m still interested to see the largely untouched Bhutan today!

5.You always seem to make time for the gym. What’s your biggest motivation when it comes to working out? Do you have any fitness tips to share?

My biggest motivation is making a habit out of it. Habits are the worst to kick! When I don’t get myself to the gym in the morning, I tend to brood about it a lot throughout the day, and I think it makes the day and its progress much less efficient than it could have been.

My favourite fitness quote would be: “Little progress is still progress”. I think many people (including myself) have those days when we just think ‘I’m so goddamned lazy today! It’s so hard to move, to run fast, to squat heavy.’ And then you proceed to drop it all down, and make a U-turn and head off from the gym. I used to be an ‘all-or-nothing’ kind of person when it comes to working out, but these days I found comfort in ‘little is better than none’.

6.We know that when it comes to staying fit, it requires dieting too. What do you usually eat when you’re sticking to a diet and what’s your favourite cheat meal?

I always say I don’t diet, but my friends disagree.  I guess I do have certain foods I particularly dislike, which actually make healthy diet habits. For one, I hate canned/sugared drinks or food. I prefer my food fresh! I do indulge in higher carb intake than people my weight/age do, and I prefer white meats to red meats.

However, I do love cakes and chocolates – A LOT. I think it is the main reason why I work out so much. I can’t imagine how overweight I would be if I hadn’t exercised daily!

7.Chinese New Year is coming up in just a couple of weeks! What are your fondest memory of CNY?

I think it had to be the year when my younger brother threw my stack of angpao out of the window after a fight. It was literally raining money for the people who walked by below. We talk about it EVERY Chinese New Year. It’s hilarious and timeless.

8.What’s one thing people don’t usually know about you?

I drink a glass of wine before going to bed every night.

9.If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

To become a warmer person in general. I tend to take more time to open up to people, and it can come off as being very offstand-ish.

10.Lastly, what are a few of your favourite places to take outfit shots in Singapore?

Rooftops, like the ones at Kallang Stadium, or People’s Park. I think they’re pretty picturesque and saves me a lot unnecessary curiosity from passerbys!

We’re excited to know what new adventures are coming Jamie’s way this year! Be sure to check her out on Dayre and her social media platforms for more updates on her fitness journey and daily musings.

We hope that this year would be brighter for you than the one that has gone by; enveloped with bliss, well-being and happiness.

Till next time!

#FeatureFriday – Christmas and Chill with Audrey!

Category: Alpha, Feature Friday, Singapore, Uncategorized |

Before we know it, it is already December which also means our last Feature Friday of 2016. There’s only 3 more Sundays till 2017, are you ready for the New Year?! We’re not sure about you but Audrey definitely is!

This December, we have Audrey, also known as Audreyxaudrey as our Featured Alpha of the month. A self-acclaimed carefree and easy-going woman, Audrey loves sharing her beautifully taken OOTDs, flat lays and mouthwatering food pictures on social media. Now let’s take a peek into her life :)

audreyxaudrey

  1. Hello Audrey, tell us something not many may know about you!

I started my social media journey by sharing my outfit photos. Slowly, my follower count started to build up and it motivated me to start sharing my #OOTD on a daily basis! I have made quite a number of friends during my social media journey and I am so thankful for them.

Other than social media, I also love playing darts! I am not a professional player but I can be found at the darts café during the weekends.

A funny fact about me is, I can’t pronounce the word “grille” or “thrill” or any word that has “rill” in it!

  1. How would you describe your social media journey thus far?

I am enjoying every part of it! I enjoy taking pictures, posting pictures and sharing about my life. I have friends asking me, “how does it feel that people whom you don’t know personally knows so much about you?!” I think it’s really fine to be sharing stuff online. Fortunately, I don’t get many inappropriate comments online. I have also learnt that most people actually do keep bad comments to themselves. So, things are good!

audxaud

  1. Christmas is approaching, what is on your wish list this year?

I wish to have an endless supply of all kinds of make-up to play with. All my life, I had been wondering, what’s with girls spending so much on so many types of make-up. Now, I am not so proud to say that I am one of them!

I also wish to be in the pink of health and… I wish for a life time of happiness. Cliché, but #fact. Last but not least, I wouldn’t mind adding one more bag to my collection! Haaa!

  1. What are your favourite Christmas songs and why?

My favourite Christmas song is not the most exciting one… it is “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. Aside from that, I like “When Christmas Comes to Town”, the soundtrack for The Polar Express.

I really love Christmas movies though, and my favourite is “Christmas with the Kranks”! It’s a very old movie but it does the perfect job in getting me into the Christmas mood.

  1. Share with us how Christmas was like when you were young versus now!

Christmas when I was young was all about the excitement I get when receiving presents! However, nowadays Christmas is all about gatherings and picking out gifts for my loved ones. I really enjoy doing it because I feel that it’s a very thoughtful process. PLUS! I love to wrap and decorate presents. Here are two of the gifts which I have prepared for this Christmas!

aaa

  1. Do you have any tips on dressing up this festive season?

Christmas is all about that sheen on your dress and WINE RED/FOREST GREEN! In other words, Christmas is the season to go bold or go home.

I have a new pair of sequin heels this season and I’m so in love with them, they’re perfect for this season!

bbb

  1. Describe your skin type and what your beauty routine is before a big night out.

I have oily skin but thankfully it’s under control now. My beauty routine consists of a 6-step skincare, followed by make-up and HAIR! Styling my hair is the most important thing to do before heading out. Just a fun fact, if I can only pick ONE thing to do before I head out, I’ll pick hair-styling. I’m actually debating if I would pick hair-styling or sunblock but I think I’ll go with the former.

ccc

  1. What are some fashion or beauty items that you are loving currently?

My latest addition to my vanity area is the Urban Decay Basics palette. I love it because the colours are neutral so it’s perfect for an eyeshadow beginner like me!

1a

Next would be my Valentino Lock bag in the perfect shade of dusty pink! I carry it almost every day because its so small and convenient. Most importantly, it goes well with almost all my outfits!

ddd

Last but not least, the Laneige BB cushion. This product covers uneven skin tone perfectly and gives me a perfect dewy finish. Absolutely loving it!

eee

  1. As a happy go lucky person, how do you overcome challenges and obstacles that come your way?

I try to face all challenges and obstacles with a positive mindset. There are no problems which can’t be solved. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of courage to make things right.

  1. Lastly, what are your hopes and wishes for the New Year?

In the New Year, I wish to have peace in my life. I also hope to master swimming, so I that can head to Cebu and swim with the whale sharks. Haha!

vvv

With that, I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

A Merry Christmas from all of us at Churp Churp to Audrey too! May the New Year bring lots of love and happiness to her loved ones and we can’t wait to embark on new adventures next year with Audrey. Head on over to her blog as she shares her festive gift guide and follow her on social media and Dayre for all things fashion, food and fun!

#FeatureFriday – Bren Who?

Category: Alpha, Feature Friday, Singapore |

No stranger to the social scene, November’s Featured Alpha of the month is the one and only Brenda! She might be a little shy at first but get to know her better and she’ll gradually open up :) Lately her creative streak’s been taken to the next level and her love for fashion can be seen in the way she styles her outfits. We had a chat with her to find out her future plans and the exciting things that’s been happening in her life for the last couple of months. So read on for more! 😉

brenwho-ff

  1. Hi Brenda! Haven’t caught up with you recently, what have you been up to?

Hello! I’ve been traveling a little bit – and my most recent trip was to Korea with Korea Tourism Organization! Other than that, I’ve also recently completed a 2-month public speaking and hosting class with Speech Academy Asia. And oh yes, I also had my first acting gig for a local band’s music video!

img_4824

2. Share with us your recent experience with filming for a music video! How was that for you?

I was actually VERY nervous because I had no prior experience in acting and have always been more comfortable being the one behind the camera. Thankfully though, the director, production crew and casts were super fun to work with and that really helped. The MV is already out so you can check it out below!

Here are some behind the scenes from the filming!

3. Yay for completing the first phase of classes at Speech Academy! Tell us some things you learnt and what you hope to take away after the completion of all classes?

To be honest, I learnt way more things than I’ve expected at Speech Academy Asia! Initially, I was pretty apprehensive about classes because public speaking has never crossed my mind (I’m pretty shy!) but through the course of 2 months, I’ve learnt more than just how to host but also things like our body language, tonality and the way we present ourselves in front of an audience.

The next phase (acting classes) will begin very soon and I’m actually kind of nervous yet at the same time, excited to learn more! Through these classes, I really hope to pick up new skills such as video production and at the same time, build my confidence level!

4. If you only had 10 minutes to get ready, what are the three beauty products you’d apply on your face?

I would go for… concealer for my under eyes, lipstick for my super pale lips and maybe highlight/contour palette!

img_4287

6. Describe your personal style and your favorite places to shop.

My personal style is actually pretty minimalistic and simple, and I’d always opt for simple colors such as black, white and grey as they’re very easy to mix and match! Recently, I’ve been pretty into muted tones like mauve pink, khaki and camo green too! I quite like shopping at Forever 21, H&M and some of my favorite online stores would be Young Hungry Free and ASOS. I also like shopping on Taobao because it’s so affordable and seriously, who doesn’t?!

img_4738

7. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I would have soup for the rest of my life! I mean, I can always opt for different soups each day right?

8. How will you spend your time if you only had 24 hours left on Earth?

I would probably spend 10 hours doing things I’ve always wanted to do but never had the chance to (such as trying food I’ve never tried, going to places I’ve never been) then spend another 10 hours of quality time with my loved ones! Then spend another 3 hours on my make up, hair and outfit because I read this quote somewhere “Every time you get dressed, remember that if you die, that’s going to be your ghost outfit forever” and lastly, spend the last hour updating my social media platforms for the last time (LOL being very real here).

9. Share with us some upcoming plans of yours!

I’m planning to get a job or an internship and hopefully return to school next year!

Keep inspiring and doing what you do best, Brenda, we’re excited to see what lies ahead for you! Wanna know more about Brenwho? Check her out on her social media platforms and Dayre 😉

That’s all the time we got, have a good weekend ahead y’all!

#FeatureFriday – #Girlboss and Fashionista, Samantha

Category: Alpha, Feature Friday, Singapore, Uncategorized |

It’s the end of October and as we gear up for the last two months of the year, remember to pause and reflect on what can be done better. This month, we commemorated World Animal Day and featured our Alphas’ cuddly fur friends on Dayre! Be sure to check that out if you’re an animal lover. It is also the month of Digital Fashion Week so stay tuned to what we have to share. But before that, here’s our Featured Alpha of the month!

October’s Feature Friday is none other than Samantha – whom many may know as Societyofsnobs! Read on to find out all about Samantha, she’s more than meets the eye.

samantha-goh-ff-final-1

  1. Hey Samantha! Hope October has been great so far J Your well-curated feed’s so lovely. Share with us some of your favourite photo editing apps you use!

Hello and thank you! I spend a lot of time on styling and shooting my pictures with a DSLR camera. They don’t turn out the way you see on social media unless I process them through Snapseed, VSCO, and ColorStory.

My favourite function from each app is selective saturation, S2 filter (for a clean look), and lens flare respectively. I’m still trying to master photography so that I don’t have to rely on such functions.

2. Travelling can be very stressful for the skin. What beauty tips or hacks do you have to combat that?

My top recommendation would be to take oral sunblock instead of applying sunscreen. With sunscreen, you have to constantly reapply to get protected from UV rays, are usually greasy, and makes you feel uncomfortable. Oral sunblock protects your entire body from harmful UV rays with just 2 tablets in the morning.

sam-2

In addition, I recommend bringing makeup remover wipes and hair oil capsules instead of your usual makeup remover oil/cream and bulky bottled hair oil to reap the same benefits without the extra hassle.

3. Online or in stores – where do you normally shop for your clothes and accessories?

I’ve stopped shopping for apparels, shoes, and accessories at physical stores since I prefer to shop online! I love ZALORA and ASOS as there are always huge discounts and free returns. If I’m unsure of the size, I would order 2 sizes and decide which to keep once I’ve tried them on. My favourite brands such as MISSGUIDED are only available online so I’d much rather shop online!

sam-4

4. What is your best buy this year in terms of fashion and your favourite fashion trend!

My best fashion buy this year is my almost brand new Celine Luggage Tote that I got from a friend at only $1K! Such a steal – she needed money urgently and I thought that I NEEDED the bag. I’m always a sucker for roomy bags. This tote can fit my DSLR camera, extra pair of shoes, outerwear, water bottle, and brolly.

sam-6

I just have to exclaim that I love the satin trend! From shirts that are pajamas-inspired to slinky dresses to bomber jackets, they exude luxurious vibe and are the most comfortable and lightweight thing that you can wear. I especially love them in blush and champagne tones.

5. Has studying psychology change your perception or shaped you into who you are?

As psychology is all about human behaviour and mind, I believe that it has helped me become more aware of other people’s situations as well as look beyond the surface to understand their problems and empathize with them. I have learnt to control my emotions better and to avoid committing cognitive biases that might pose as a hindrance to my work and lifestyle.

6. Many people know you as Societyofsnobs on social media, but not many know that you are also a director of a construction firm. Share with us what you do at work :)

It’s not common knowledge but yes, I am the director of my construction firm, Hock Chuan Seng Pte Ltd. We distribute building materials and hardware. The business was handed over to my grandfather to my father, and my father to me. I do everything including attending to the cash register and arranging delivery, as well as heavier duties such as contributing to my employees’ CPF and applying for my compound to be leased out.

7. How has being a director challenged and helped you grow as a person?

I became a more responsible and driven individual as I felt the need to expand my business to ensure that I can pay my employees enough. Previously, I was contented to only understand procedures and learn skills that were relevant to me – now, I realized that it is better to try out everything in case these experiences come in handy next time.

sam-8

8. Tell us what your ideal weekend is like!

My ideal weekend involves a short getaway to a nearby island for scuba diving. Since I’ve recently gotten my Advanced Open Water Diver Course, I anticipate more time to take footages of marine life and wrecks during my leisure dives using my GoPro. Meanwhile, I have an upcoming diving trip at the Open Ocean habitat of S.E.A. Aquarium that would allow me to view giant manta rays and leopard sharks up close. Can’t wait!

sam-9

9. As a content creator, do you ever feel stuck doing what you do? How do you ensure that you are consistent with updating your social media platforms?

I never had a problem with bringing new content to my social platforms since there are always new fashion trends, beauty products, picture-worthy cafes, and events to attend. The only problem that I sometimes encounter is drafting beauty and technology-related posts since they require more research. Despite my busy schedule (I go to the office every Monday to Saturday, full day), I allocate time on Sundays to shoot pictures of my outfits and beauty hauls. Sometimes, I might even bring 2 outfits out to ensure I have enough images to last the upcoming week.

sam-10

10. Lastly, it’s Halloween this month! What are some plans you have this year?

I don’t usually party during Halloween since my friends prefer to take it chill. We are going for Halloween Horror Nights 6 though – I attend it every year because it’s so much fun! Have been trying to scare the actors instead but I haven’t been able to. Guess they are really well-trained.

Thanks Samantha for such an insight into your life! We hope that you continue to be able to challenge and push yourself – whether at work being a #girlboss or creating such inspiring feed. To keep up with Samantha, check out her social media platform and her Dayre!

#FeatureFriday – Cëe the world with our flatlay queen, Cëe Tay!

Category: Alpha, Feature Friday, Singapore, Social Media Scene, Travel |

We hope August was an awesome month for all you Churpers :)

On our end, August was jam-packed with the celebrations of both our nation and … Netccentric’s 10th Anniversary! (whoop whoop!) Not just for us it seems as, Cëe, our featured Alpha of the month, recently returned from a 3-months long vacation and celebrated her 22nd birthday back in Singapore.

Now that half of September is done and dusted, let’s check in with Cëe on what she has been up to!

1.Hi Cëe, welcome home! How was your recent trip to New York? What did you enjoy most about the city that never sleeps?

Thank you! This city really never sleeps. I love NYC (but San Francisco takes first place) because food is everywhere! No surprises there. Most places are within walking distance, almost like Singapore, which makes it very convenient.

As a tourist, I would recommend trying Shake Shack. If you’re looking for something more Instagrammable, they have plenty of cafes for you to explore. Certain street food or food trucks can be expensive, so just be aware of that.

My favourite spot in Manhattan would be The High Line – it’s an elevated park built on a historic rail line. It may be a bit out of the way but you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the cool breeze and sun set.

Also since you’re in New York, I suggest taking a trip down to the 9/11 memorial. There are 2 large fountains that take the spot of where the twin towers used to be (I think) and they also have a museum. I believe it’s a great learning experience for everyone.

2.Aside from New York, what are some of your favourite cities that you have travelled to recently & why?

San Francisco, Melbourne and Hong Kong (planning another trip in Jan).

I don’t know why, but I’m just so drawn to San Francisco. It was a place I’ve always wanted to visit and after spending 2 months there, I think I left my heart in San Francisco. Maybe it’s the people, or the landscape or the chilly weather… I would do anything to be back again!

While I didn’t spend much time in Melbourne, I was able to visit quite a number of places thanks to a friend who lives there. They have so many Instagram-worthy streets and cafes that it’s not difficult to see why I love this city. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would definitely love to revisit and have a longer stay this time.

Hong Kong is just a glutton’s heaven. The last time I visited, I was there for over a week and it seemed like I still had so much to do and so many places to visit. Can’t wait to start planning the upcoming trip!

3.What tips do you have for budding videographers who may not be familiar with doing travelogues?

Hmm…

  1. Record everything! It’s better to have more footage to work with than none. What I’ve learnt during my stint as a videographer is to keep each recording short, so it’s a lot easier when editing. Rather than watching through a 10 minutes recording to find the ‘good parts’, you can easily scrub through a 1 minute recording.
  2. You don’t need a professional camera to have a ‘good’ travel vlog, there are times when I chose to record with my iPhone 6s and the quality is pretty decent.
  3. Watch someone else’s travelogue to get inspired.

While I did say to record everything above, there are times when it’s much better to be present in the moment and enjoy the view with your own eyes. Most importantly, the main reason we travel is to expand our knowledge and to relax. So enjoy yourself on the trip and the process of capturing all those moments!

4.Ok enough of travels, let’s get to know the person behind @ardaisy_! How would you describe yourself?

Hmm, I love a good adventure, I probably joke too much and am organised most of the time.

5.Congrats on your graduation! What are your plans for the future?

Thank you! My plans for the future are to find a partner and settle down within the next year. Just kidding! I am currently looking for a full-time job most probably doing digital marketing, and see how it goes from there. 😊

6.Well, one thing we do know for sure is your love for flat lays! What are your favourite props to use/have when creating a flat lay?

flatlay

I don’t have any favourite props actually since most of my props are also object that I use on a daily basis. I do however have some notebooks/books which were impulse purchases but turned out to be really great props as I don’t use them at all.

Oh wait! Flowers can make great room decoration as well as props.

7.Where do you draw your flat lay inspirations from and what do you do when your inspirations’ lacking?

My daily life I suppose. Most of my flat lays are created to represent a day, rather than intentionally created just for the sake of posting. Of course there are times when I get a new shoe or bag that I really want to feature, then I create a flat lay around those items.

When my inspiration’s running low, I use Pinterest! I can spend all afternoon pinning, even when I have other important things to do. (oops!)

8.Your two guinea pigs are so adorable! What did you name them after? How has your life changed after being a mama to your two fur kids?

Hehe, thanks! The older one is named Dale, and the younger one is Baby. They are approximately 3 years old and 1 years old respectively.

To be honest, I’m not even sure how life was like before having my guinea pigs (says every pet owner). I missed them so much when I was away for 2 months.

9.Even though you’ve graduated, it’s back to school season for many! What recipes do you have to share for a quick and easy yet healthy breakfast?

  1. Overnight oats

I love overnight oats because as the name suggests, you prepare it the night before so you don’t have to rush in the morning. Fill your mason jar with oats, yoghurt and some fruits and leave it in the fridge overnight. I don’t add honey or sugar, because the natural sweetness from the fruits is enough for me.

2. Fruit Salad

Don’t let the word salad scare you. I’m not someone who loves eating vegetables as well, but adding your favourite fruits into the salad makes it a lot better.

  1. Infused water

Fill your bottle with fruits/vegetables (I like the cucumber and mint leaves combination the most). I usually also prepare this overnight, leave it in the fridge and drink it first thing when I wake up!

10.Lastly, as Netccentric just turned 10, what are some wishes you have for the company?

Happy 10th birthday Netccentric! The party was amazing and I’m glad to be part of this wonderful family. To more success ahead!

All of us can agree that doing up a flatlay is definitely not an easy feat, it’s an art form! We hope you’re as inspired as we are right now and for more tips and tricks on flatlays and Cëe’s travel adventures, follow her on her blog and her social media platforms!

Once again, have a blast this F1 weekend, Churpers :)

#FeatureFriday – Ong Ai Leng, living it up stylishly everyday!

   Category: Alpha, Feature Friday |

What’s up, Churpers! How’s everyone doing on a Friday? For us, it’s our most favourite day of the week for obvious reasons hehe we can’t wait to relax a little more over the weekends. No stranger to the entertainment industry, today we’ll be featuring Artiste and Entrepreneur, Ong Ai Leng, who’s currently living the life in Canada.

Let’s get right to it!

FF OAL

1. Hi Ai Leng, hope all’s good. How has life been in Canada? What are some things you miss most about home (Singapore & Malaysia) after living abroad for a while?IMG_8269

It’s summer in Canada now! I stay in Toronto, definitely not very difficult to adapt.  I would say summer here is beautiful and lively; extremely blue cloudless skies and green grass. Hate to say this, but the moon here appears bigger than back home LOL. (It’s a Chinese saying by the way!)

IMG_8962

My life in Canada

What do I miss most about Singapore? Definitely the food, though I managed to cook my own curry laksa and chicken rice in Canada.

OALcooks

I cook everyday in Canada, here’re some of my creations!

One more thing that I miss most about Singapore is the convenience of commuting from one place to another, and that I could do everything at one area. For example, Orchard Road! From hair treatments to facial, mani-pedicures to high tea with friends, watching movies to shopping and to attending my Pilates class! But in Canada, it’s just too big, there’re long drives in between two points.

2. Any upcoming business or acting projects that you’re excited to share about?

FullSizeRender

After Project W (a Singapore production), I’m giving myself a break (without a deadline). My friends said I have retired haha. Maybe I am just temporarily retired until there is another good script or interesting business opportunity but I am still running my event company in Singapore. As long as I have my phone, I can work anywhere.

3. You’re blessed with really good skin and as a celebrity, we know it’s important to look good! Care to share with us some beauty tips? 😀

Let me try to list down all my daily regimes:

  • I will never wear make up to sleep, regardless of how late I arrive home or how tired I am. I shower, wash my hair and clean my face – 100% clean before I head to bed so there’re no bacteria or germs or dust on my pillow and bed!
  • Every morning, I wash my face with water only, no need for the use of cleanser as my face would be very clean the night before after all my skin care steps (toner, any kind of serum, moisturiser, eyecare). Sometimes if I am really very tired, I’ll skip the skincare steps and simply apply a sleeping mask and wash it off with water the next morning before applying some skincare. This can help acne combination skin too.
  • Always apply sunblock. Never leave home without it
  • I don’t go for facial often, maybe once in 2-3 months but I put on facial masks at home at least twice a week. If I am filming, I will put on a mask everyday.
  • Drink lots of water of course, though plenty of exercising does make a positive difference to my skin as well. I run everyday now, and my skin is firmer and better.

4. We also love your style! It seems like you can pull off anything! How did your love for fashion come about and what’s your style inspiration?

IMG_8603IMG_3373

I don’t know what’s my style. Lol. That’s why I named and created a hashtag for myself #oalstyle. Cos my style is like my life, constantly changing, adventurous and eager to try new things. I was not like this in my twenties. Guess back then I dressed to impress and now I dress to have fun!

I travel a lot and I love to observe how people style themselves. With the help of magazines and Instagram, they gave me so many ideas! I used to buy full sets of designer wear, but that will only increase your chance of wearing the same as others. So now, I loooovveeee mixing and matching. Break the look, personalize the look, make it my own style. For example, I remember there was a year at Star Awards, I got a long tail black and white elegant evening gown, I broke the look with a biker leather jacket and my chrome hearts bracelets and rings.

During my first trip to London 9 years ago, London Fashion Week was going on and I was so inspired. On the streets, there are so many stylish people. Some might have looked a bit overwhelming, but! I came to a conclusion that any style or anything you put on, as long as you are confident and comfortable, that will be your own fashion style. And I appreciate that. Cos to me it has become an art.

5. What are some of your more memorable shows you were part of?

The first thing that came to my mind would be the first movie that I starred in my life. The movie was 2046, acted alongside Zhang Ziyi and Tony Leung. It was a very small role but I had such a great experience. And I love the costume and styling, I was wearing a 1940s cheongsam.

IMG_8034

“Addicted to Love” – the Malaysia and Singapore drama filmed 8 years ago, it was like “Sex and the City” and I was the Carrie Bradshaw. I wore my own clothes, shoes and bags on set and the director of the show is now my husband :p

IMG_5184

Lastly, Project W, cos it’s the most recent one and I really had lots of fun with the rest of the casts. We are the W family; Pierre Png, Sheila Sim, Desmond Ng, Charles Lee, Michelle Wong and Priscilla Chan. My character, Ashley, was very stylish too. Yup, that’s how much I love fashion!

6. After a long day of filming, what do you look forward to the most? What keeps your passion alive?

After a long day of filming, I only look forward to my bed and bathtub. I love pampering myself. And what keeps my passion alive is people, people that I enjoy working with, be it in entertainment or business. I love to meet people and being able to influence each other, support each other with positive energy and love. Without this, work will just be work… boring. I need to have love and have fun.

7. Congrats for being happily married for years! What are some tips for staying together despite both of you having busy schedules?

IMG_3378

  • Don’t forget to say “sorry” and “thank you”
  • Don’t take marriage for granted
  • Keep having fun with each other. Don’t take everything too seriously except for one thing, the vow – the commitment in your marriage. For the rest of your time together, just enjoy each other’s company.IMG_3307

8. Share with us one of your biggest ups and downs in your life and your greatest takeaway so far.

Wow, my whole life of 37 years has been filled with ups and downs. I can’t tell you which one is my biggest but I had many precious experiences, which I thank God for, even for all my down moments too. That’s how my life became so interesting. I was the best academic student in college, graduated from an Australian University, for some reason I joined Miss Malaysia World, became a model, then actress, and then businesswoman. To conclude, my biggest down moment would be during my insecure days when I was between the ages of 25 and 28, chasing after security which I could never find because it was not in my work as an actress (haha definitely no), it was not in my looks, it was not in my relationship (by the way, never try to find your sense of security from a man), and it was not in my bank account too!

IMG_1555

Then I found God, I went for a mission trip. It was the biggest turning point of my life. Instead of exhausting myself by creating the “security” in life which didn’t exist, I learned to embrace life. Life that is constantly changing, unpredictable and full of the unknowns. Flowed with it and gave my best everyday, making each day count.

9. Growing up, what were you like as a kid?

IMG_6259

Spoilt princess? Lol. I was the first child in the family and always had what I wanted. Good in studies, sports, singing, dancing, drawing…etc. Super kiasu by nature, my parents never needed to pressure me in anything. As you can tell, I didn’t have many friends when I was a kid.

10. You’re constantly travelling and exploring places, are there anything else on your bucket list?

There are too many things I wanna do. The world is so big and I wish I can travel around the world!!! Some of the more notable places would be Israel, Jerusalem and Alaska (for the ice breaking cruise, watching the Norther Lights & Ice fishing!)

Wow Ai Leng, we wish we could be in Canada, you make us wanna live fearlessly too! We hope you guys are feeling a little inspired, when life isn’t looking too good, always believe in yourself! (:

That’s all the time we have today, go forth and enjoy the weekends!

#FeatureFriday – Meet our most petite Alpha, Shufeng!

Category: Alpha, Feature Friday, Uncategorized |

Who’s excited for National Day? We know we are! We’ve covered so much on National Day Parade and all the happenings on Dayre that you could feel our excitement all the way across the screen.

Sharing our excitement for National Day is… Shufeng, our featured Alpha of the month! Going by the social media handle @PetiteKSF, no prizes for guessing that she’s really petite ;D She’s also one of our newest addition to the Churp Churp family so come along with us as we take you through Shufeng’s makeup inspirations, shopping tips and more!

1. Hi Shufeng, we hope July has been a good month for you! Do you have any July favourites?

Hello, same goes to all of you reading this :)

Talking about the month of July, I must say that it was a hectic one… But there is always room for July favourites!

Let’s start with makeup –  I’m extremely cautious when it comes to buying foundation as my skin is pretty sensitive to a lot of commercials brands. This time, Etude House did it again with their latest powder cushion which has won my heart over. I love how it transforms to powder within a few seconds the moment you apply it on your skin!

10/10 for this product because it really gives you a very natural finish. It’s my go-to product (holy-grail!) now and I really recommend this product to the ladies who are looking for a powdery and a more natural finish.

Skincare? Definitely The Wellness Clinic products right now. I’ve been applying all of these diligently every morning and night and am very confident to tell you guys that my skin has tremendously improved since then.

Moving onto retail brands – MDS is my favourite! Used to work with them for a few ads and now I’m happy to be a buying customer. The founder of MDS is also pretty petite so most of the clothes I get are mostly available in XS.  I’m sure I don’t have to explain much as MDS is almost everywhere!

So I guess that pretty much sums up my July favourites :)

2. Singapore Food Festival is currently ongoing! What are your favourite local dishes and where?

Hmm… when it comes to food, I’m very greedy. My favourite local dishes are Katong Laksa, Punggol Nasi Lemak and my all-time favourite… black carrot cake! They are the best, sooo cheap and yummy that you can just forget about all the cafe food out there.

3. With National Day just around the corner, tell us what you love about Singapore!

Speaking of National Day, I’m super excited to be celebrating with the Nation this 9th August! This year, I have the privilege to catch NDP preview on 30th July all thanks to Churp Churp  :)

This question came up often in class. Despite how expensive the country is, I still think it is a blessing to be living in this tiny red dot. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the peaceful sleep we get every day and getting home safely even when it’s 3AM in the morning.

Being born in Singapore has made me reflect on a lot of things – e.g. we don’t get natural disasters like tsunami or earthquake and security here is very tight (which we should not take for granted). Singapore Armed Forces are all very well-trained and without their contributions and hard work all these while, I doubt Singapore will be this safe.

I guess the best part about growing up in Singapore is the transportation.  The government has made it so convenient for all of us! Travelling around with just Red, Green and Purple Line back then and now? We even have the blue and orange line! Not forgetting buses as well. I remember getting a bit lost with my friends when we first started taking the orange line, lol. #itwasthecoolestadventureever

4. Do you have any source of inspiration for your everyday makeup?

Shufeng

If you want me to describe my everyday makeup, I would say it’s more towards the Japanese style. They are very focused on eye makeup and I have been into them since I was 18 (young and vain, very sure it’s genetic. Lol) YouTube was one of the sites I surfed very often. I started putting on makeup with just $2 Daiso products; those were the only makeup products I could afford with no part-time job back then haha.

I have to admit that SOME of the makeup products on the shelves ain’t that bad and the first foundation I started using was Silkygirl! My puberty came late, so no concealers needed at that point of time lol. #thisisarealjoke

As you can see, makeup trends are ever-changing, I look for inspirations through magazines and Youtube these days. Ponymakeup and Bubzbeauty are a couple of my favourite YouTubers whom you should totally follow!

5. Lip products have been all the rage these days, do you have any favourite lippie you swear by?

NYX lippie

YES. It’s NYX Ombre Lippie and Colourpop!

NYX Ombre Lippie – What I really love about these lippies is that there are two colours in one stick. One is a lighter shade while the other is a darker shade. You’re able to create very beautiful ombre lips and rock your weekend with just that one stick. The best part is, it comes in lots of colours for you to choose from. Pigmentation wise? 10/10. NYX has been one of my favourite cosmetic brands so far. Cheap and good!

Colourpop – I guess I don’t have to explain much about this highly raved lipstick! It’s everywhere, like literally everywhere. The colour, pigmentation etc is worth every penny! I still have lots of unopened ones and intend to do a giveaway someday.

6. Describe your dream holiday!

Dream holiday? I really need one so badly! Maldives is my dream holiday. Imagine waking up to such a beautiful scenery, disconnected from the internet world with just the lovely blue sea, you and chilling with the fishes – sounds ideal. Definitely putting this dream vacation on my bucket list!

p/s: A partner to complete this holiday would be even better, hahahaha. :p

7. As a shopaholic, any shopping tips for girls who are petite just like you?

I feel that it is important to be comfortable in our skin and wear whatever that is comfortable. To me, fashion has no rules. You are what you wear, be comfortable and let no one tell you how you should dress. It’s ok not to be perfect, it’s perfectly ok not to have a Victoria’s Secret model body too.

My wardrobe is in a huge mess, it’s insane and I don’t even want to think about it. My best shopping tips I can give for petite ladies are:

  • To look taller, nude heels are the way to go. I feel they definitely help to “lengthen” your legs, especially in photos. I own like 3 to 4 pairs of similar nude heels, never sick of them!
  • Try to avoid midi skirts, they will make you look shorter and tinier as a person, not many petite girls can pull that off.
  • Never get an oversized bag, it’s like a hell-no. BUT, it’s perfectly ok for you to get an oversized tee, they are very comfortable and common now. I’ve been digging that lately.
(Best tip: Get your boyfriend’s shirt, you can save some money. Lol)
  • Do try to avoid tea-length dress as it isn’t ideal for petite women. You might want to be a little bold and show some skin. Get a dress around or above your knee length. It will make you look taller. Just because we don’t have a supermodel body, that doesn’t mean you don’t have the rights to flaunt your petite body. Aye.
  •  Jumpsuits are my favourite! My main tip in picking jumpsuits? Prints. I always avoid jumpsuits that have too many prints. Block colours and simple colours are good as they’re very flattering on petite women.

Yep, I guess that’s all I can think of right now. You can always hit me up on my social media platform if you need any tips! I might pop out some new ones for you. Sharing is caring 😉

8. Your adorable Shih Tzu has been popping up on your social media platforms! Do you have any advice for potential dog owners?

Ah, that naughty little boy! I personally feel that having a pet dog at home requires a lot of attention but they can play a big part in relieving your stress after a long day at work too. If you’re getting a pet at home, always make sure you do your simple accounts. Having a pet can burn a hole in your pocket, so be ready for this.

Besides all the fun, there’s a lot to consider before having a pet dog at home. The medical expenses, approval license, monthly food expenses, grooming expenses, toys, training expenses and miscellaneous expenses that will cost a bomb in the end.

9. This might be random but what is your #1 song on your playlist?
Secret Love Song by Little Mix!

10. Lastly, what’s one thing people don’t usually know about you?

I had moles near my eye area when I was a kid. I finally got them lasered away when I was 18. It was so ugly and irritating! I guess my Secondary school friends can vouch for that, lol!! The fortune teller also pointed out that the moles near my eye area symbolized something bad but I can’t really remember what it is. Hence, I got it lasered for good. In fact, I feel much more confident when I head out now.  I used to lock myself up as I hated getting unnecessary stares and comments when I was out. I was so insecure when I was young! Thank god, it’s all over now.

Yes, Maldives is one of our dream holiday destinations too! Hope you enjoyed getting personal with Shufeng, do check out her blog and social media platforms for peeks into her life. Don’t forget to follow her on Dayre too :)

That’s all we got this week, have a Churp-y weekend all!

#FeatureFriday – Our Makeup & Beauty FanaTIQ!

Category: Alpha, Beauty, Feature Friday, Singapore |

Happy Mid-Year, Churpers! How time flies, half of 2016’s already gone! How has the year been for you? Be it good or bad, there’s still half a year more to make your 2016 count. For Tiq, our featured Alpha of the month, this year is going to be extraordinary! We got up close and personal with Tiq as she shares her love life, her job that girls would love to have and more.

1. Hi Tiq! Congratulations on your engagement! How’s your wedding preparation coming along and how excited are you?

Thank you! I’m pretty much more or less done with the preps, just need a little bit of touch ups here and there. I can already feel the heat of the wedding! My favourite part of the planning is the decoration. I have a vision of it in my head and I just can’t wait to see it all put together!

Since it’s a combination wedding, trying to get it work for both sides can be quite tough, but I think we did well.

2. Tell us more about your love life! How did the both of you meet?

We met in ITE and were really good friends. It was funny because I had a crush on his friend, not him! But we got really close and we were quite comfortable with each other. When we got together, not many people thought our relationship would last but hey, look at where we are now!

3. Since father’s day is round the corner, how do you usually spend occasions like this? Any plans for Father’s day this year?

My family is really simple when it comes to this. We will usually go for dinner somewhere and just enjoy each other’s company. We don’t really have much time together these days, so a simple dinner out is precious!

4. Your job as a cosmetic buyer is really cool! What’s your favourite job scope and the toughest part about your job that not many people may know of?

My favourite part is the free stuff I get! At times, I don’t really have to buy any more makeup because whatever I want is free. But who am I kidding? Of course I’ll buy more in the end.

Not many people know we deal a lot with data. It’s not all about choosing which products to bring in. It’s about forecasting, looking at sales data and all the dry stuff you can think of.

5. As a beauty lover, what’s your Holy Grail make up and skincare product that every girl must have?

FFTiq1

Color Me Automatic Foundation Applicator is God-sent! I apply my foundation with this and the airbrush effect is really amazing. As for skincare, I love Leaders Insolution masks. Cheap and really effective.

6. Any particular fashion style you love?

I am obsessed with pastels! Whatever I am wearing these days usually have a lot of pastel or nude colours. I don’t care if I look like a clown but I’ll wear light purple and light yellow together any time!

7. Where is your favourite place to shop for clothes & accessories? Any plans for the upcoming GSS?

I am usually shopping online and I love Zalora and Poplook. This year’s GSS will be me buying whatever I need for my wedding.

8. What’s the top 5 beauty items you’d bring if you know you’re going to be stuck on an island?

Tough. Probably sunscreen because I don’t want to end up with skin cancer, eyebrow pencil because eyebrow needs to be on fleek even if I am in trouble, a lipstick, a lip balm and my night moisturiser.

9. Heard you love reading! Any book recommendations for the book worms out there?

To be honest, it is difficult to find time to read but my favourites are The Hunger Games series, Pendragon series and the Sweet Valley series!

10. If there’s one person you can be for a day, who would it be?

Beyonce! I would love to know how it is like to be in her shoes!
