Not too long ago, one of the most powerful typhoons ever recorded, Typhoon Haiyan, devastated the Philippines. It took the lives of 6,111 people, left 1,779 other missing and left 4.4 million people homeless. We at ChurpChurp reached out to the ChurpChurp Community for your voice and donations.

Although we may not hear about it anymore, the clean-up and restoration of the city continue every day.

Relief efforts are still on-going

Boy stands in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan

Before and after: Typhoon Haiyan

With your help, we’re sure that the good folks at Red Cross Philippines will be further bolstered by these donations so that they can continue the good work that they do.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who helped to give a part of your earnings to this cause. To date, we have collected more than USD 6,000 regionally.

We’d like to thank the 590 people from the community for their kind donations as every cent counts!

There are also countless of you who wished to remain anonymous and we’d also like to thank you. We’re very touched by the ChurpChurp community!

Relief for Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda – Do your part and donate

   Category: Announcement, Charity |

Dear Churpers,

Typhoon Haiyan (also known as Typhoon Yolanda) has taken over the news ever since it hit the Philippines on the 8th of November 2013, where more than 600,000 people have now been displaced by the storm across the country and with no access to food, water or medicine. The numbers of the dead and injured are in the thousands now, and worse still, the list keeps getting longer every day.

We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, but there’s more we can do than to keep them in our prayers. As such, Churp Churp is organizing a regional donation drive to raise funds for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, and we urgently appeal to all of you in our wonderful Churp Churp community to come together and do our part to help those in need.

From now till 22 December 2013, you can do your part and contribute to our fund in just a few simple steps, by donating either a portion of your Churp Churp earnings, or via Paypal!

1. Head over to your Churp Churp dashboard.

2. Look for the “[URGENT] Donate to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan!” campaign and click it.

3. Choose the denomination you would like to donate. The options are: $2, $5, $10 and $50. Please tick the box if you would like to donate anonymously. (We will be featuring the names of all the donors at the end of this campaign, in recognition of your generosity).

4. You will receive a confirmation email.

5. The amount will then be deducted from your current earnings.

There! Imagine that, with these 5 easy steps, you could easily help a starving child, a sick man or a dying woman.

Alternatively, you can also click on the link choose to donate via Paypal, where you can choose from a total of 12 charities to contribute to.

If you’ve been thinking, “I should do something to help the victims of this disaster”, well, today is the day you stop thinking, and start doing! The collection period for this donation drive is from the 22nd of November to the 22nd of December 2013, after which we will donate the total amount raised to Red Cross Philippines.

We know our community is capable of doing great things together, so do your part and help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan today. We thank you in advance for your generosity, and for being a part of this good cause!

Freeze Tiger Trade!

   Category: Charity, Support |

Nope, we’re not talking about freezing tigers, locking yourself in the freezer, chucking down ice-blendeds for a few weirdly euphoric seconds of brain freeze or anything alike (…though you could?) – we’re talking about putting an end to the violent tiger trade! There is so much we can do to save these jungle friends of ours, and let us make this a call to stop to violent trading tigers!

How and for what specifically, you may ask?

This is in conjunction with the World Tiger Day this July 29 and we want our voices to be heard on putting an end to tiger trades!

Poor tiger and their families 🙁

World leaders will be at the Tiger Summit in Russia this September 2010, and we want you to take part in this movement and express your love for our furry feline Malayan Tigers! Together we can garner massive attention from this Freeze Flash Mob!

Check out the video by WWF Malaysia on tiger trade :

Let’s do our part – say NO to Tiger Trade. Double the number of Tigers by 2022!

So make yourself available this July 30 (Friday). As the rest of the details… well you’d have to constantly check back at http://bit.ly/aMru0Z for clues! *zips mouth*

Well, it is a flash mob freeze after all!

(oops, we mean, SEE)
