We first saw her perform on Project Superstar. For the younger ones, maybe you’ve only seen her recently on TV Dramas. But one thing’s for sure – This multi-talented Alpha, Silver Ang, dazzles wherever she goes.
Silver’s definitely beautiful inside out, and very, very confident. She’s unafraid to show even her most unglamorous moments, from posting photos of herself with a facial mask on to tweeting about PMS. And that’s what we all love about her.
This Feature Friday, we zoomed into Silver’s life as she strives to fulfil her dreams, and she shares with us what it’s like to be doing so, as well as a few other things that you might not know about her!
1. We see that you’ve been busy filming dramas involving kids recently! What is it like filming with them?
Every kid is different, some chatty, some reserved, some competitive, some a bit more “nua” than others…and getting to work with different kids from all age groups are actually kind of fun. It’s really interesting to see certain traits in children that you know are going to form a big part of who they become later on in life. I like the fact that they are forthcoming and direct – you never really have to second-guess too much to know what they are thinking or feeling. Whether they like or dislike something is pretty apparent. They’re a lot easier to read than adults. I also adore the fact that they find fun in the simplest things.
Some of these kids surprise me with their ability to handle the camera with ease. I wouldn’t have been able to do that at that age, and I’m really proud of what they can do. I also got to work with my distant cousin Ling En on one of the kids shows called “Little Detective”. I always knew she was on a lot of the Chinese mainstream drama series, but she blew me away when I worked with her. She was amazing with camera sense!
Catch Little Detective on Channel 8, 11.30am from 6 October 2013 onwards!
On top of Little Detective, Silver will be appearing in Kids CEO, an infotainment, which will be rolling out on 6 October 2013 11am, Channel 8 as well. Don’t miss it!
2. You seem to be able to handle kids really well! Do you see yourself having any kids in future?
Oh yes I do! I want 3! I’ve always liked big families as there is always a lot going on, and I feel 3 kids would be a nice number.
3. How has Project SuperStar changed your life?
In ways that I am really thankful for. As a kid, I’ve always wanted to be an actress. Project Superstar was a singing competition, and in a weird way, it brought me back to my childhood ambition. It’s crazy how I’m doing what I love as a job now.
4. Do you prefer singing or acting?
Wow this is a tough one. I love singing, for sure. But I’ve always wanted to act since I was little because I wanted to be able to tell someone else’s story. Once you are cast to play a certain character, that character will forever be yours and yours alone.I like that. It pushes me to want to play the character well because no one else will have that chance.
5. What would you share with those who are chasing their dreams?
Dreams are not for the faint-hearted, you will fall, you will fail, you will crash against walls before you get there. Enjoy the process – good or bad, tough or not. Always keep an open mind, have a willingness to learn. Chances are, the path will not be all smooth-sailing, but everything that happens along the way will teach you something.
6. If you could post one last Tweet, what would it be?
Thank you Twitter, for listening to my 140-character rants for the past 4 years. I’m leaving, but do follow me on Instagram @Silver_Ang! <3
7. Recently you tweeted about how Instagram has gotten more of your attention as compared to Twitter! Tell us why!
They say a picture speaks a thousand words. There is so much I can tell with an Instagram post, plus I can write a long-ass essay to go with it. Sometimes, 140 characters just aren’t enough to express everything I need to.
8. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
Chameleon. Definitely a chameleon. I think I adapt pretty well.
9. Are you a morning or night person?
I’m most productive between 2-7am. I’m a night person for sure. Or an early-wee-hours-of-the-morning person, depending on how you look at it.
10. What’s your favourite colour? Could it be silver?
I don’t really have one particular favourite colour. I guess it all depends on what shade of the colour is on what object. Textures and the whole visual image matter too. If I really had to pick one though, it would be sea foam, or turquoise, or tiffany blue. They’re all like similar shades right?
Here’s just a little sneak peek into Silver’s life, and we’re sure that’s simply not enough for you to find out why we love this Alpha so much! Do check out her blog, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to check out her daily updates for more!
